Virat Kohli breaks Sachin Tendulkar's world record of most 1000-run calendar years in ODIs

Virat Kohli became the owner of another batting record in cricket as he once again surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to hold the world record for most calendar years (8) in international cricket with 1000 or more ODI runs.

Tendulkar held the record by scoring 1000 runs or more in ODIs in seven calendar years, but Kohli surpassed the batting great by bringing up 1000 ODI runs for 2023 in the game against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in World Cup 2023.

He has now scored 1000 runs or more in ODIs in eight calendar years.

Interestingly Kohli broke Tendulkar’s record at the Master Blaster’s home ground in Mumbai and is in line to get to another milestone. Kohli has so far scored 48 ODI tons and he is only one away from Tendulkar’s world record of 49 ODI hundreds.
