Royal Challengers Bengaluru have finally ended their trophy drought. After 18 long years and numerous heartbreaks, RCB clinched their maiden IPL title by defeating Punjab Kings in a nail-biting IPL 2025 final.
While celebrations erupted across the stadium, it was the emotional moment shared between Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma that stole the spotlight. After the final ball, Virat Kohli was seen speaking to Navjot Singh Sidhu, who praised the iconic moment between the cricketer and his wife. Sidhu said, “And for me, you see, for all the joy that you've given, the moment which will stay etched in my memory is your eyes overflowing with emotion and you hugging your better half.
She stood by you, thick and thin.” Kohli, visibly moved, responded, “100%. 100%. She's been coming here, supporting RCB since 2014. I can see that. So it's been 11 years for her as well. Relentlessly coming to games, watching tough games, watching us just miss out. What your life partner does for you to be able to play and the sacrifices and the commitment and just backing you through thick and thin is something you can't explain in words."
He added, "Only when you play professionally, you understand the amount of things that go on behind the scenes and what they go through as well. What Anushka has gone through emotionally, watching me being down and out, her coming to games, being so connected with Bangalore. She's a Bangalore girl as well. And being connected to RCB, this is very, very special for her as well. And she's going to be so, so proud.”
As the final over sealed RCB’s victory, an ecstatic Anushka ran down to the ground and embraced Virat in a tight hug, her face lit with pride and joy.
Kohli, overcome with emotion, was seen shedding happy tears — crying like a baby in Anushka’s arms. The actress lovingly consoled him, brushing her hand over his head as he broke down in the historic moment. Virat also kissed Anushka’s forehead in a gesture of love and gratitude.
Earlier, Anushka was seen jumping with joy in the stands alongside her family. Just minutes before RCB’s triumph, cameras had captured her visibly distressed as Kohli got dismissed in the tense final. Her heartbroken expression quickly went viral, resonating with fans who have followed the couple’s highs and lows over the years.Virat and Anushka’s love story began in 2013 on the sets of a commercial. They tied the knot in a fairytale wedding in Italy in December 2017. The couple welcomed their daughter Vamika in January 2021 and their son Akaay in February 2024.
