"Is Mahabharat HISTORY or MYTHOLOGY?" asked director Vivek Agnihotri as he announced his next big venture, a film on the epic of the Mahabharata.
The director, known for delving into the pages of history to give the audiences films like 'The Tashkent Files' and 'The Kashmir Files,' will now embarked on this ambition project titled 'Parva: An Epic Tale of Dharma'. This production on the Hindu epic is said to be a three-part cinematic saga, authored by Dr. SL Bhyrappa.
According to Agnihotri's post, he intends to delve into the depths of this epic to determine if it is really just a myth or if it was infact history. "We, at @iambuddha_films, are grateful to the almighty for the privilege of presenting Padma Bhushan Dr. SL Bhyrappa's 'modern classic': PARVA - AN EPIC TALE OF DHARMA," he captioned the post.

According to a report on Zoom, the director will host an event in Bangalore for the big announcement. 'Parva: An Epic Tale of Dharma' promises to be a compelling journey into one of India's most treasured epics, offering a fresh perspective on a timeless classic.
Besides Agnihotri, director SS Rajamouli also shared his desire to turn the epic into a 10-part film series. He said he has a 'grand vision' for the film, but there has been no update on the same.

Meanwhile, producer Madhu Mantena announced last September that a new series adaptation of the Mahabharat is in development at Disney + Hotstar. The show will reportedly speak of the ultimate conflict between 'dharma and adharma'.
