Bombay High Court’s Criticism in Housing Scam Case
In December 2023, the Bombay High Court criticized the Maharashtra Police for mishandling a major housing scam involving Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi as a partner. Oberoi had promoted several Karrm housing projects, including those in Shahpur and Palghar. Over 11,500 buyers were left stranded as the promised homes were never delivered.
Fraud Allegations Against Karrm Infrastructure
Karrm Infrastructure marketed itself as a leader in affordable housing through its Mission 360 initiative, attracting homebuyers. However, authorities claim the company misled customers by using fake documents, falsely portraying agricultural land as non-agricultural to secure investments.
This fraud caused huge financial losses for innocent buyers who had invested their savings. With the ED's latest action, the case has regained attention. Affected homebuyers are now demanding stricter action against those responsible and hope to recover their losses through the attached properties.
Vivek Oberoi’s Film Career Continues Amid Legal Battle
Despite the ongoing legal issues, Vivek Oberoi remains focused on his film career. After playing the villain Bobby in Lucifer, he praised

“It was an absolute pleasure being a part of the incredible journey that was Lucifer, and bringing Bobby to life was a truly special experience for me. While I’ve explored darker characters, this one felt very different, and the love I received from the people of Kerala was truly heartwarming,” he penned.
L2: Empuraan references Vivek Oberoi’s character from Lucifer, but he does not appear physically in the film.
