When Allu Arjun called Prabhas, 'number one'

As Arshad Warsi's remarks about Prabhas' role in Kalki 2898 AD stir up controversy, Reddit users have unearthed an old video where Allu Arjun compares

to Hrithik Roshan. In the video, Allu Arjun references SS Rajamouli, suggesting that Hrithik Roshan falls short in comparison to Prabhas. Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan’s fans found it amusing that the superstar was considered a 'benchmark to beat.'

In the video, Allu Arjun said, “He (Prabhas) goes great fights and is number one in all.

As SS Rajamouli said, ‘Hrithik Roshan is nothing in front of Prabhas’.” The camera then panned to Prabhas who was seen smiling at the comment.
The video, as expected drew a lot of reactions on Reddit. One person wrote, “I think he is using Hrithik as some kind of bar, it looks bad in today’s context but it’s a very common Indian way to butter up someone.” Another said, “They are just trying to hype Prabhas using Hrithik as a bar In a jovial way. I don’t see any malice there. The only thing this proves is that Hrithik will remain a benchmark for everyone from North to South. It’s actually a big compliment.”

One comment read, “It’s more like Hrithik is the benchmark and it’s an indirect compliment to him.” Another added, “Hrithik is a superstar and they all know, they were promoting Prabhas there that’s why they say that. It’s like watching a great stunt of Akshay Kumar and then jokingly saying Jackie Chan ain’t go no shit in front of Akshay Kumar.”
Over the past few days, a lot has been said about Arshad Warsi’s comment about Prabhas’ performance in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD. This led to a lot of backlash towards Arshad, not only from fans of Prabhas, but from a lot of big names from the Telugu Industry, one of them being Nani- who, currently, is in the middle of promoting his upcoming film

's podcast. He said, "I am really sad. Prabhas was like a joker" (in the movie). Few days later,

was asked about Arshad’s comment and he replied to the question in Telugu which when translated, meant, "This must be the most publicity he, (actor who commented about Prabhas) has got in his life. You are unnecessarily glorifying an unimportant matter."

Now in an exclusive interview with ETimes, Nani opens up about his reaction and shares that it stems from

love for Prabhas

, he said “ Prabhas is a person..because of how he is over the years, everyone owns him, he’s not just this big star who does big films, but because of his humble nature, we feel like we own him.”

“ During the press event I was asked about it, I had kept on hearing that he was called something ..so I’'ve reacted to it.. And later, when I went back and saw the whole thing…I realized this whole thing is being blown out of proportion ..choice of words could have been better, but that is a different debate altogether, and even mine (statement) is blown out of proportion . I also realized that I should concentrate on my movie Surya’s Saturday and react only on the movie,” he added.
He finally stated , “When someone speaks something about someone we love, even if it is unintentional, we will react ..that's exactly what happened here with fans, audience and the actors.”
