2' is the second installment of Divya Khosla's own 2014 directorial.
‘Yaariyan 2’ clashed with Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon's action film 'Ganapath' on Friday, which too has slowed the box-office performance of ‘Yaariyan 2’.
Despite huge expectations, the comedy-drama had an underwhelming reception on its opening day, with about Rs 60 lakh in earnings at the box office. The film was expected to perform well, especially during the weekend, with more youngsters booking tickets; however, the Divya Khosla Kumar and Meezan Jafri starrer only secured Rs 55 lakh on Saturday, the second day. Consequently, the cumulative domestic box office collection is now estimated to be around 1 crore rupees.
Public Review: Divya Khosla Kumar, Meezaan Jafri and Yash Dasgupta-starrer 'Yaariyan 2'
Directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, 'Yaariyan 2' revolves around three cousins from Shimla who move to Mumbai and navigate through life, heartbreaks, and adventures that transform them in various ways. The coming-of-age story features Divya Khosla Kumar, Yash Dasgupta, Anaswara Rajan,
Meezaan Jafri
, Warina Hussain, Priya Prakash Varrier, and Pearl V. Puri in the lead roles. Our critic has ranked the film 3 out of 5 and said, “The movie may appeal to fans of romance and drama as it’s packed with both. But a tightly-knit narrative would have made the film far more engaging.”
Meanwhile, for the uninitiated, ‘Yaariyan 2’ is a remake of the 2014 Malayalam film ‘Bangalore Days’ helmed by Anjali Menon. The recent release also marks the Hindi debut of Yash Dasgupta, Pearl V. Puri, and Anaswara Rajan.
