Aamir Khan had recently announced that he will be producing Sunny Deol starrer Lahore, 1947. He will not be acting in this project, but ETimes has exclusively learnt that Aamir will shoot a special cameo. Lahore, 1947 is being helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi and Aamir will have a pivotal appearance alongside Aamir in his home production.
Announcing the movie, Aamir had shared on Instagram via his production house, “I, and the entire team at AKP, are most excited and happy to announce our next, starring Sunny Deol, directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi, titled Lahore, 1947.
We look forward to collaborating with the immensely talented Sunny, and one of my favourite directors Raj Santoshi. The journey we have embarked on promises to be most enriching. We seek your blessings, A.” No further details about this project have been revealed.
Aamir's last release was Laal Singh Chadha, which tanked badly at the box office. The film was the official Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks' oscar winning Hollywood film Forrest Gump. Post this movie, Aamir Khan was to start work on the remake of Spanish film 'Champions', however he surprised everyone by announcing a break from movies. He had said stated, “When I am doing a film as an actor, I get so lost in that, that nothing else happens in my life. So after 'Laal Singh Chaddha', I was supposed to do 'Champions' remake. It's a wonderful script, it's a beautiful story, and it’s a very heartwarming and lovely film but I feel I want to take a break. I want to be with my family, I want to be with my mom and my kids. I feel I have been working for 35 years and I have single mindedly been focused on my work. I feel this is not fair to people who are close to me. It is not fair to me also in many ways. I plan to take this time off to experience life in a different way.” Aamir Khan announced that he will produce the movie. Latest update suggests that Farhan Akthar has been roped in for this sports drama.
