A 500-carat statement

Designed by Manish Malhotra Jewellery, the opulent high jewellery set worn by Aishwarya featured over 500 carats of Mozambique rubies and uncut diamonds set in 18-carat gold. At the heart of her look was a multiple-strand ruby necklace paired with a ruby choker necklace adorned with a single diamond pendant, and a third diamond necklace stacked underneath.

Aishwarya’s handwoven ivory Banarasi saree, crafted using the traditional Kadwa brocade technique from Varanasi, was a vision in real silver embroidery. The meticulous zari detailing in real chaandi (silver) added old-world charm to the contemporary silhouette.

She styled it with a tissue dupatta featuring intricate gold and silver zardozi embroidery, draped over one shoulder to create a train-like effect.

In a statement, designer Manish Malhotra explained that the ensemble was a “deliberate departure from conventional red carpet codes,” reimagining the saree as a piece of contemporary couture, not just nostalgic tradition. The use of heritage Indian craftsmanship and bold, ceremonial jewellery was a striking reminder of India’s cultural luxury on a global stage.

Aishwarya completed her look with signature winged eyeliner, glowing skin, red lips, and her hair styled in a middle parting with a touch of sindoor, giving her the aura of a modern-day Maharani.
