Ashley Sutton

, who has captivated fans with her intense portrayal of Hannah in 'Yellowjackets,' recently opened up about the deeply emotional moment she shared with co-star Sophie Thatcher while filming the explosive season 3 finale.
During her conversation with Deadline, Sutton described how a particularly powerful scene led both actresses to break down into tears once the director called "cut."
Sutton’s character, Hannah, has proven to be one of the most complex additions to the show’s eerie narrative. It was introduced as a clever and adaptable survivor, Hannah is driven not by power but by a longing to make it out of the wilderness alive. “Her motivation has always been to get back home,” Sutton shared, adding that Hannah’s choices are often a blend of strategy and desperation.
One of the most harrowing moments of season 3 sees Hannah forced to kill Kodiak, portrayed by Joel McHale, after a failed escape attempt leaves her with no other option. The brutal decision appears to align her with the Antler Queen’s terrifying regime. However, in a twist that left fans stunned, Hannah risks everything during a hunting expedition by sneaking away to assure Natalie (played by Sophie Thatcher) that her loyalties haven’t changed.

Reflecting on the emotional impact of that scene, Sutton told that she and Thatcher were overwhelmed by the intensity of the moment. “When the scene wrapped, we just looked at each other and started crying. It was like we both finally understood what our characters had been carrying this whole time,” she said.
The emotional toll wasn’t limited to just that moment. Sutton also mentioned how she was able to honor her character’s late boyfriend, Edwin, played by Nelson Franklin, whose tragic death earlier in the season shook both fans and characters alike. “It felt meaningful to pay tribute to that loss on screen,” she added.
'Yellowjackets' is a gripping mix of psychological horror, survival drama, and twisted teenage dynamics that continues to attract viewers with its unique narrative. It is centered around a high school girls’ soccer team stranded in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash. The series explores how desperation fractures their humanity, leading some down a terrifying path of cannibalism.
Although a fourth season has yet to be confirmed, the excitement surrounding the season 3 finale suggests that fans are eager for more. Currently, all three seasons are available for streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime and Amazon Prime Video.
