Cody Rhodes returned to WWE programming at Saturday Night’s Main Event and hit John Cena, the man who beat him at WrestleMania 41 with help from Travis Scott, with a Cross Rhodes. This helped Jey Uso retain the World Heavyweight Championship against Logan Paul. Post the match, Rhodes virtually confirmed his next big feud and announced that he is here to stay. With this, here is a look at three potential feuds for the ‘American Nightmare’ going ahead.
An exciting tag match
Let’s start with the one that is almost confirmed. After helping Jey Uso retain the title, Rhodes announced that he plans to team up with the ‘Yeet Master’ to take on John Cena and Logan Paul at Money in the Bank on June 7. This match is likely to be made official on the upcoming edition of Raw. It has the potential to further Jey’s feud with ‘The Maverick’ and also bring ‘QB1’ one step closer to his ultimate goal— recapturing the Undisputed title.
Round 2 with John Cena
John Cena is expected to hold on to the title for at least a few more months before dropping it. Moreover, going by the vicious way in which he assaulted R-Truth tonight, the Cenation Leader is unlikely to turn face anytime soon. This essentially suggests that Cody Rhodes, who didn’t get his ‘Mania rematch, could possibly lock horns with Cena again.
This potential match could happen at SummerSlam or even Survivor Series, which are among the ‘Big 4’ events of professional wrestling, with the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania being the other two.
Mixing it up with ‘The Best in the World’
The Rock reportedly wanted Cody Rhodes to turn heel ahead of WrestleMania 41 but the idea was turned down as ‘QB1’ is immensely popular and his merchandise sells well. This, however, does not mean that he will never embrace the dark side. In fact, WWE may already have a suitable opponent for him should he turn heel and that person is none other than CM Punk. ‘The Second City Saint’ has never had a long feud with Rhodes and could make a good opponent for him at WrestleMania 42.
