Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh made quite the fashion statement as he paid homage to his roots during his Met Gala 2025 debut. The actor star gave the world a glimpse of Punjabi royalty as he walked the blue carpet on fashion's biggest night.
Styled by designer Prabal Gurung, Diljit stepped out of New York’s Carlyle Hotel dressed in an all-white ensemble with gold detailing. Rocking a turban, the star wore a Punjabi suit paired with a traditional drape with a verse in Punjabi embroidered on his back. His regal look was elevated with ornate jewellery and a symbolic sword case in hand.

Evoking the aura of a modern-day Maharaja, Diljit walked the blue carpet and even struck his iconic pose. The sword in his hand even doubled up as a walking stick as he used it as a prop while posing for photos.
The theme of this year’s Met Gala, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” explored themes of identity, heritage, and craftsmanship, drawn from Monica L. Miller’s seminal book Slaves to Fashion. While its reference to Black culture is questionable, Diljit’s look offered a powerful parallel Indian interpretation of royal elegance rooted in culture.
Before walking the blue carpet, Diljit created quite the frenzy outside his hotel as fans and the paparazzi gathered to catch a first glimpse. Dosanjh was seen exiting the hotel, smiling and waving briefly before stepping into his car en route to the Met.
Dosanjh joined fellow Indian celebrities Shah Rukh Khan, Kiara Advani, and Priyanka Chopra at the prestigious event, further cementing the growing global influence of Indian stars in the fashion world.
