SRK reveals he made his Met Gala debut for kids

Shah Rukh Khan made quite the impression with his debut at the

Met Gala 2025

. The actor turned heads with his regal all-black ensemble designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee and also managed to win hearts with his beautiful and thoughtful reflections while speaking to the media on the blue carpet.
According to reports, Khan made history as the first Indian actor to walk the Met Gala carpet. Despite being one of the most recognisable stars on the planet, he had no qualms admitting that he was nervous stepping into the spotlight. “I am very nervous,” he confessed.

Speaking to Vogue, he added, “Sabyasachi convinced me to come here. I’ve not done too many red carpets, I am very shy. For me it’s the first time, but looking at you both, I am excited to be here.”

When asked what he was most excited about, Khan smiled and gave credit to his children. “I have little kids who are most excited about the Met. I don’t know if I would have come here on my own, but when Sabya suggested that I should come, they went ‘Wow!’”

as a fusion of traditional elegance and a powerful contemporary message. Speaking about the inspiration behind his ensemble, Khan shared with reporters at the event, “I told Sabya that I only wear black and white. But what he has designed for me is what I’m most comfortable in. That’s how I think it should be, so I am really excited.”
On the blue carpet, Khan further elaborated, “My designer, Sabyasachi, thought of this. For him, it’s an expression of freedom — trying to be resolute and resilient against things that can oppress you.”
Designer Sabyasachi also spoke about the responsibility of dressing a global icon. He shared, “To give a bit of context, Shah Rukh Khan is probably one of the most famous men in the world and his fan following is legendary. We nearly had a stampede outside the hotel. When you get a man like this on the red carpet, representation is the most important thing. You want to represent Shah Rukh Khan as Shah Rukh Khan, and nobody else.”

As the conversation wrapped up, the host complimented the actor, saying, “Shah Rukh, you look fantastic. I hope your kids are proud of Dad.”
To which Khan simply replied, “Dad did his thing.”
