Ila Arun hopes Diljit Dosanjh will cover more of her songs after earning royalties from 'Choli Ke Peeche'

Ila Arun has not contributed her voice to a Bollywood song in 12 years, but her influence continues to resonate in the industry. Last year, Rajesh A. Krishnan's hit heist comedy 'Crew' featured recreations of two of her iconic tracks, "

Ghagra

" and "

Choli Ke Peeche

." Initially, she protested the use of these songs without her permission, but she has since made peace with it.
In a recent conversation with Hindustan Times, Ila Arun expressed her thoughts on the use of her songs without permission, stating, “It is wrong. But I settled with them on my own." She emphasized that just because AI is now accessible, artists should not be discounted. Following Diljit Dosanjh's rendition of "Choli Ke Peeche," she received significant royalties and hopes he will consider more of her songs. Diljit performed this song not only for the film 'Crew', starring Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon, but also during his popular Dil-Luminati Tour in India and abroad last year.
Recently, Ila Arun's daughter, Ishitta Arun, expressed her concerns on the podcast Cyrus Says, lamenting that her mother hasn't received the singing offers she truly deserves. However, Ila believes this perspective comes from Ishitta's emotional attachment rather than an objective view. Ila argues that Ishitta sees her as having more depth than the songs offered to her, like "Reshma," featured in her albums. Ila acknowledges that the industry is commercial, stating, "Whatever works sustains." She has no complaints about her career, expressing pride in being part of the Mumbai film industry as both a singer and an actor. She finds fulfillment in theater, where she can pursue the roles she desires.
