Is Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Sarzameen releasing in May?

After a challenging debut with Nadaaniyan, Ibrahim Ali Khan is set to return to the big screen with his upcoming film Sarzameen. Sources close to ETimes share that, the makers have locked in the end of May 2025 for the film’s theatrical release. This marks Ibrahim’s first release in cinemas following the digital premiere of Nadaaniyan on Netflix in March.
Nadaaniyan, a romantic comedy produced by Karan Johar, featured Ibrahim alongside Khushi Kapoor. The film, despite the buzz around the star kids’ debut, received mixed reviews for its performances, writing, and overall tone. While Ibrahim showed promise, critics noted that the film lacked freshness and emotional depth.

, the film is a hard-hitting drama set against the backdrop of terrorism in Kashmir. Ibrahim plays a pivotal role as an army officer, with seasoned actors Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran lending weight to the cast. The patriotic drama was initially eyeing a Republic Day release but was postponed to ensure a quality final product. The month of May, with few big-ticket releases, offers Sarzameen a clear runway at the box office.Sarzameen was supposed to be Ibrahim’s debut film before Nadaaniyan, Sara Ali Khan back in 2023 confirmed that Ibrahim has completed shooting for his first film.

Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has recently shown a growing interest in patriotic narratives, with Kesari: Chapter 2 also on the horizon. Starring Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R. Madhavan, the film is inspired by Raghu and Pushpa Palat’s book The Case That Shook The Empire.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim is also working on Diler, produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Kunal Deshmukh. In this action-packed drama, he sports a new look and stars opposite Sreeleela. While Diler was initially expected to be Sreeleela’s Bollywood debut, she will now be launching with Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film, directed by Anurag Basu.
