Salman Khan’s big Eid entertainer, 'Sikandar', started with fireworks—but 19 days in, the sparkle seems to be fading. The action drama is struggling to crawl towards the Rs. 110 crore mark while Akshay Kumar’s fresh release, '
Kesari Chapter 2
', is charging ahead with early box office buzz.
Bollywood’s Bhaijaan’s film has been on a downward slide. According to early estimates by Sacnilk.com, the film earned only Rs. 0.15 crore on its 19th day, bringing its total India net collection to Rs. 109.9 crore. Hindi occupancy on Thursday, 17 April, was just 6.11% a worrying dip.
The first week saw a decent Rs. 90 crore come in. By week two, though, collections fell to around Rs. 17 crore. Now in its third week, 'Sikandar' is struggling to cross the Rs. 110 crore milestone, a mark it should’ve easily crossed by now. And with newer films entering the race, the going only gets tougher from here.
'Kesari Chapter 2' release
While 'Sikandar' slows, Akshay Kumar is speeding ahead with his latest, 'Kesari Chapter 2'. The courtroom drama, released today, has already made a bold entrance. As per Sacnilk, the film minted Rs. 3 crore on day one, including block bookings. More than 50,000 tickets were sold through advance bookings alone.
'Kesari Chapter 2' brings emotional depth and a gripping storyline, following the aftermath of the
Jallianwala Bagh massacre
. Add a stellar cast with R. Madhavan alongside Akshay, and you’ve got a film with both fire and feeling.
Akshay Kumar comes to Salman’s defence
With fans questioning Salman’s recent box office luck, Akshay Kumar wasn’t having any of it. In a chat with Hindustan Times, Akshay praised his longtime friend and fellow superstar saying, “Dekhiye yeh galat baat hai. Aisa hai, aisa ho nahi sakta hai.
Tiger Zinda hai
aur hamesha rahega. Salman aisi nasal ka tiger jo zindagi mein kabhi marr nahi sakta.”
