 'One has to be ready for criticism as well as praise'

Actor Jugal Hansraj, who has appeared in OTT projects such as Mismatched and most recently Nadaaniyan, where he played Ibrahim Ali Khan's on-screen father, is experiencing one of the busiest phases of his career. Despite the mixed reactions to Nadaaniyan and Ibrahim’s performance, Jugal is choosing to stay focused on the positives.He acknowledges the backlash but hopes for more empathy in the discourse. “The feedback can be constructive, not personal. People can be kinder, and that's lacking sometimes,” says Jugal. He admits that being in films comes with scrutiny: “One has to be ready for criticism as well as praise. “I am very happy with the response. It was a good experience working with the team,” he shares.

When asked if he shared any words of wisdom with Ibrahim, who is Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s son and made his acting debut with the film, Jugal had nothing but kind words: “He’s a wonderful guy, very well-mannered. It was an absolute delight to work with him. The affection towards him, the fatherly affection, came naturally.”

OTT offers a new chapterHaving started his journey as a child artist and now navigating the digital era, Jugal has chosen his projects carefully over the years. His recent roles have given him space to explore different characters. “I get a lot of different kinds of roles now. Mismatched featured me as a flamboyant character. In Nadaaniyan, I was a doctor-father. Mismatched was my first big OTT show,” he says, adding that fans can expect a few more releases from him later this year.
