The Akshay Kumar starrer sees a huge growth on Sunday as it's about to touch Rs 30 crore

Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari Chapter 2' which also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday has released in cinemas today, on April 18. The film sees the actor play the role of

C. Sankaran Nair

, a brave Indian lawyer who took on the British Empire in court. As far as the box office is concerned, this film is obviously not in the same genre as massy movies like 'Sikandar', so a huge opening number wasn't expected. But it had a decent opening of around Rs 7.75 crore.
Kesari Chapter 2 Movie Review

Kesari 2 sees huge growth on Sunday

On day 1, the film made Rs 7.75 crore and there was good word of mouth, hence some growth was expected over the weekend. On Saturday, day 2, the movie made around Rs 9.75 crore which was a growth of around 25 percent, according to Sacnilk. There was further jump on Sunday and the film made around Rs 12.25 crore. Thus, the total collection of the first three days now stands at Rs 29.75 crore. This is pretty decent for a film like this, as it's not the typical massy big film which was expected to cross Rs 100 crore within its first three days.

The film also had a very limited release in just about 1700 screens and is ideally a niche film, but due to its patriotic theme, it's doing well in some small centres and two-tier, three-tier centres as well.

Competition with 'Jaat'

Meanwhile, Sunny Deol's 'Jaat' also saw some growth on Sunday, but the positive word of mouth for 'Kesari 2' did not allow the Sunny Deol starrer to score better. Yet, the film made around Rs 5.15 crore on Sunday.
Day wise collection of the film:
Day 1 [1st Friday] ₹ 7.75 Cr -
Day 2 [1st Saturday] ₹ 9.75 Cr
Day 3 [1st Sunday] ₹ 12.25 Cr
Total ₹ 29.75 Cr
