The devastating news of Matthew's passing was initially brought to the public's attention by TMZ and subsequently confirmed by the Los Angeles Times. According to reports, Matthew was discovered lifeless at his Los Angeles residence on the evening of Saturday, October 28. Tragically, he was found in his jacuzzi at home, and initial reports suggest he may have succumbed to drowning. No evidence of foul play or the presence of drugs at the scene has been reported. The first responders were summoned to the residence due to a case of cardiac arrest.

Matthew’s family shared their statement with People on Sunday. “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love,” the family said.
