city, Balochistan, are still awaiting
government assistance
after torrential rains and floods that caused significant damage. They blame the authorities for their negligence and insufficient response which worsened the impact of the
devastating floods
.
They further accuse the deputy commissioner of downplaying the scale of destruction and spreading falsehoods.
The area, located in the old part of the city, has become unsuitable for living due to the floods. Homes and even a graveyard have been submerged.
One resident, Habib, expressed his anguish over the destruction of his father's grave and the loss of his home. He emphasized the urgent need to restore the grave, as it holds the last memory of his father.
While Habib and others affected by the floods are determined to find a solution, they are still waiting for an response from the authorities. Despite declaring Gwadar as calamity-hit, the authorities have not taken the necessary steps to prevent drainage into the populated areas.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has called for immediate aid to Gwadar. They said that they immediately need medicine, doctors, nursing staff, water extraction machines, and basic food supplies.
