Priyanka Chopra, who recently graced a masterclass for Jio

MAMI Film Festival

in Mumbai, spoke about her female-led movies not working at the

box office

and how it has impacted her as an actor.
Priyanka said that there is a lot of pressure when you have a female-led film because they are only a few. So when they don’t do well you feel the collective failure on behalf of all women.

The actress added that she used to feel like she has taken women a few steps back and let women-kind down, because there are so few of them who get the opportunity to do that. Priyanka explained that now, she tackles such failures with a better approach.

Deadline also quoted the actress saying that she has learned to pivot her mind around that – it’s not personal. According to her, when a movie works, it works because it has something to say. And if it doesn’t work, it didn’t say what it needed to say.

Priyanka also disclosed that she was advised that actresses typically take on female-centric roles later in their careers. Regarding her decision to sign 'Fashion' shortly after the success of 'Krrish,' she shared that she committed to the film immediately after 'Krrish,' and was informed that actresses often embrace female-oriented projects towards the later stages of their careers with the aim of winning a National Award.

Priyanka has been a part of some notable female-oriented movie like 'Mary Kom', 'Saat Khoon Maaf' and 'Jai Gangaajal'.
On the work front, Priyanka will next be seen in 'Citadel 2' in her kitty. Apart from this, the actress has also been roped in for Farhan Akhtar's 'Jee Le Zaraa' with Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
