Saif Ali Khan would be upset and tell Sharmila Tagore, 'I don't need you right now' says Soha Ali Khan: 'My mother didn’t see my brother for weeks'

Sharmila Tagore has always broken stereotypes. She was one of the first actresses who continued to work after getting married when it those times, that wasn't the norm. She worked even after she had kids.

Tagore was married to Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi (Tiger Pataudi) and became a mom to three kids - Saif Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Saba Ali Pataudi. In a recent interview, Soha has opened up on what they felt, when their mom was off to work.She recalled during a chat that Saif would often get upset and didn't want to see her. She told The Hollywood Reporter India, "Sometimes, my mother didn’t see my brother for weeks. And then, she would rush home to do bedtime with him and he would be like, ‘I don’t need you.

I don’t want you right now’ because he was also upset. So he is fine with the didi and then you are like, ‘What did I rush home for?’ And then you are so stressed about that time that you end up being short with your children, so it’s a lot.

"Earlier, during an interview with ETimes, Tagore had opened up on being a working mom and the stereotypes around married women working in those days. She said, "All working women were frowned upon.

The society thought we are bad women because we are leaving our children and going to work. But there's a lot of pain and sacrifice in doing that. That's how we were judged. Somehow, a man's work was always valued. A woman's work was not valued.

The notion was that the man is earning a living, so your role is in the kitchen. I taught my children early in life that when I had to go to work, they tell me, 'Get a 10 on 10'. The way I would wish them for exams, they had to wish me when I went to work. I have taught them that while I am not neglecting them, my work makes me happy, just like going to a birthday party makes them happy. They learnt to accept me as a working person and would ask me questions about my work. They didn't think I was leaving them or depriving them by going to work."Soha had shared earlier in an interview that her mom Sharmila was the bread-winner of the family after her father Tiger Pataudi retired from cricket.
