Shraddha Kapoor reportedly in talks with Dinesh Vijan and Laxman Uttekar for new project

Following her recent visit to the Maddock office in Mumbai on May 26, Shraddha Kapoor is reportedly in advanced discussions with producer Dinesh Vijan for a potential reunion after the success of 'Stree 2'. Industry sources indicate that the actress met with Vijan, and their meeting also included director Laxman Uttekar, known for Chhaava.According to sources close to Pinkvilla, Shraddha Kapoor has expressed strong interest in a script discussed during the meeting and has "principally agreed" to come onboard. If the project materializes, it would mark Laxman Uttekar’s next directorial venture after Chhaava, with Shraddha Kapoor potentially taking on the lead role. The film is reportedly based on a Marathi novel, and Shraddha is set to portray a Maharashtrian character on screen.

Details beyond this are being kept under wraps, though there's a possibility of an A-list male lead joining the cast. While the talks are currently in nascent stages, the likelihood of this film moving forward is considered high, given Shraddha Kapoor's positive relationship with the production house. Dinesh Vijan, currently experiencing a highly successful run with two films in the ₹500 crore club, is focused on creating diverse and trend-breaking content.

The subject pitched to Shraddha by Vijan and Uttekar is said to be deeply rooted in Maharashtrian culture, aligning with their vision for unique storytelling.

In addition to this potential project with Shraddha Kapoor, Laxman Uttekar and Dinesh Vijan are also developing a three-hero project, which they aim to take to floors in 2026 or 2027 with three top-tier actors from Indian cinema. Maddock Films is also actively expanding its horror-comedy universe, with the next installment, Thama, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, scheduled for a Diwali 2025 release.

For Shraddha Kapoor, this potential directorial venture with Laxman Uttekar could be her next big-screen project after Stree 2, particularly after her recent talks with Tumbbad director Anil Rahi Barve did not materialize.
