The latest action drama Kesari Veer starring Sooraj Pancholi, Suniel Shetty, Vivek Anand Oberoi and Akanasha has managed to cross the Rs 1 crore mark at the domestic box office within its first four days. Though the film had a low-key release with minimal pre-release buzz.
The film is set in the 14th century and revolves around the valor of Rajput warrior Hamirji Gohil, who defends the Somnath temple against the Tughlaq Empire. Suniel Shetty portrays Vegdaji, a brave Bhil warrior. The film is directed by Prince Dhiman, it generally received negative reviews, the critics pointed out flaws in the screenplay, visual effects, and overall execution.Kesari Veer opened on a modest note, collecting Rs 25 lakh on its first Friday.
Despite facing competition from bigger releases and limited showcasing, the film witnessed a 20% growth on its second day, earning Rs 30 lakh on Saturday. The film showed a marginal growth on Sunday where it minted Rs 35 lakh but on Monday the film crashed by more than 50 % to earn just Rs 16 lakh as per early estimates by Sacnilk. Thus taking the total of the film to Rs 1.06 crore and with this film finally managed to cross the Rs 1 crore mark.
The film's performance in tier-2 and tier-3 centers seems to have contributed to this steady weekend business. With the weekdays now underway, it remains to be seen whether Kesari Veer can sustain its run or witness the usual drop. The film will need to hold steady and attract niche audiences to stretch its theatrical presence.The film was Sooraj Pancholi’s first film after he got acquitted in the Jiah Khan suicide case in 2023. It was like a fresh start for him in the industry though he made his debut in 2015 with Salman Khan backed Hero with Athiya Shetty- the film was directed by Nikkhil Advani. The film was an official remake of Subhash Gahi- Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Seshadri’s Hero which was released in 1983.
