Pedro Pascal's sister burst into tears after his tragic death as Joel in - "Seeing my brother die that way, I didn't..."

Even though the tragic death of Pedro Pascal as Joel might have been known to those familiar with the ‘The Last of Us’ video game, it was entirely shocking to the fans. Pascal’s sister, Lux Pascal, stands in solidarity and shares the emotions with his fans. During a red carpet interview with Remezcla at the 2025 Platino Awards, Lux not only admitted that she was upset with the 50-year-old’s death on the series, but she also stated that this was his fourth death as a role - and she doesn’t like it at all.

Lux Pascal 'burst into tears'

“I have to say that, being Pedro Pascal's sister, I knew how that episode would end. I knew what was going to happen. But even so, I saw it and I wanted to throw the iPad,” the 32-year-old actress stated.Furthermore, Lux said that she ‘burst into tears’ when Joel met his ultimate end in the second episode of the second season. “It's not the first time he's done it to me,” she continued. “It's not the second time he's done it to me. I think it's the fourth time he's done it to me. Because how many deaths has he had? Game of Thrones, Equalizer 2, The Last of Us - each is more violent than the other... seeing my brother die that way, I didn't like it at all,” Lux added.

Pedro Pascal is upset as well

Well, Pedro Pascal himself is in denial about his character’s death after the attachment with it, and the bonding experiences with other members. With Joel’s demise, Pedro Pascal doesn’t like to talk about it as it makes him really sad. “I realise this more and more as I get older, I find myself slipping into denial that anything is over, he stated, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“I know that I'm forever bonded to so many members of the experience and just have to see them under different circumstances, but never will under the circumstances of playing Joel on The Last of Us. And, no, I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it because it makes me sad,” Pedro Pascal added.
