But beyond the buzz, Simbu’s recent emotional speech became one of the most talked-about highlights.At the grand audio launch of Kamal Haasan’s ‘Thug Life’, one of the year’s most anticipated films, actor Silambarasan TR (Simbu) took a heartfelt moment on stage to thank director Mani Ratnam for his unwavering support during a challenging phase in his career. “I cried after watching Anjali”During the event, Simbu opened up about his rocky professional journey, revealing how Mani Ratnam stepped in when others hesitated. He reflected on his childhood admiration for Mani Ratnam’s films, especially ‘Anjali’, which featured child artists and left a deep impact on him.

“I cried after watching Anjali, feeling sad I wasn’t a part of it despite being a child artist here,” Simbu shared. Fast forward to his adult years, Simbu confessed he mostly took up mass masala films but eventually found himself surrounded by industry scepticism. “There was a time when producers were even discussing giving me a red card,” he admitted, referencing the Tamil Film Producers' Council’s temporary ban in 2023 that restricted him from taking on new projects.
