Varun Dhawanand his father – acclaimed director David Dhawan – are set to reunite for their fourth collaboration in the comedy genre. The project recently gained further traction following Varun's announcement of the film's title: Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, slated for release on April 10 2026.
The title itself is a nostalgic nod to a popular song from David Dhawan's 1999 hit film Biwi No.1.A leaked video has recently surfaced on social media featuring the lead stars — Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde — energetically dancing to a remade version of Chunnari Chunnari. However, the video has not been well received by fans. This iconic dance number was originally performed by Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen in the very same Biwi No.1, released over two decades ago.
Reports suggest that the upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai will feature this Chunnari Chunnari 2.0 as a key musical number. As soon as the behind-the-scenes video of Varun, Pooja, and Mrunal went viral on the internet, many social media users expressed their concerns vehemently, with a common sentiment being that the new trio might struggle to live up to the high standards of charisma and dance set by Salman and Sushmita 26 years ago.
Some flooded the comments section with criticism, saying, “Don’t ruin it.”One fan reacted, “Till date, this music is the best — when you hear it, you have to dance — but don't ruin it.” Another wrote, “I want to unsee this... No creativity.”
At the same time, some fans appreciated the setup of the song and Pooja, Varun, and Mrunal’s efforts to recreate it. They left heart emojis in the comments section of the viral video.
