From being the

power couple

on the screen with a film like ‘Guru’ to becoming a power couple in real life after tying the knot in 2007, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have come a long way. Their bond started as co-stars, which bloomed into friendship and then, before anyone knew, the chemistry between the two brewed and it brewed so beautifully that the two tied the knot on April 20, 2007. As we speak, the couple has lived almost two decades together, and there have been ample examples that prove they have stood as strong pillars of support for each other. For instance, do you remember when ‘Be Happy’ actor revealed how the criticism of his wife Aishwarya’s Cannes look ‘upset’ him even before they were hitched.

Aishwarya Rai’s 2003 Cannes look

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, one of the most beautiful divas on the planet, made her Cannes debut in 2002. Her first appearance on the global platform was highly loved and appreciated. However, it was her second appearance at Cannes that made more buzz, and not for the right reasons. In 2003, she served as a jury member at the

, while the jury on her look for the event was not in her favour. She received a lot of backlash for her green lehenga, which, according to the internet, was nothing short of a fashion blunder.
Addressing the same in an old interview with Rajeev Masand, after her wedding with Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya shared she couldn’t understand why there was such a ‘big hullabaloo.’ She said that her being on the jury was the most important thing to factor in that year, but the public centered their attention somewhere entirely.

In the same interview, Abhishek Bachchan chimed in and shared that back then (in 2003), while he and Aishwarya were not dating, the trolling did upset him. “And there was this huge uproar in the media about how she was dressed. And it's really sad, and as a friend, which we were at that point in time. We were co-stars, and we were friends. It upset me,” said the actor.
As a true green flag, he added that after becoming her husband, it upset him whenever she was criticized.
