Addressing the same in an old interview with Rajeev Masand, after her wedding with Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya shared she couldn’t understand why there was such a ‘big hullabaloo.’ She said that her being on the jury was the most important thing to factor in that year, but the public centered their attention somewhere entirely.

In the same interview, Abhishek Bachchan chimed in and shared that back then (in 2003), while he and Aishwarya were not dating, the trolling did upset him. “And there was this huge uproar in the media about how she was dressed. And it's really sad, and as a friend, which we were at that point in time. We were co-stars, and we were friends. It upset me,” said the actor.
As a true green flag, he added that after becoming her husband, it upset him whenever she was criticized.
