During this time, Jaya and Amitabh had started dating each other, with the actor turning up on the sets to meet the beauty.

This seemed to have caught the attention of Rajesh, who got angry and scolded him saying that a boy should not come like this to meet an actress on the film sets without thinking. He even reportedly told Jaya, "Why are you wasting your time on him? Nothing is going to happen to this boy." But Jaya ignored him and continued supporting Amitabh.
Reports state, Khanna's comments had Jaya fuming and she went on to predict Big B's rise to superstardom.
Jaya also made headlines when she openly expressed her disappointment over Bachchan's minimal role in the Manoj Kumar film 'Roti, Kapda Aur Makaan'. By that time, he had already gained popularity, but his role in the film was quite small which prompted Jaya to say that he deserved more screen time.
