Jack Movie Review: 2/5 stars

Jack Story: Pablo Neruda aka Jack (Siddhu Jonnalagadda) is not a poet but a street-smart, wannabe RAW agent who believes confidence is a skillset. His dream of becoming a spy comes true—sort of—when he gets into a covert mission, Operation Butterfly, to track down dangerous terrorists. What follows is a whirlwind of undercover operations, explosive chases, and awkward romantic interludes as Jack finds himself entangled in more than he bargained for.

Jack Review: The setup promises a unique blend of espionage and humour, and Jack kicks off with that energy. Siddhu Jonnalagadda brings his trademark comic timing and kinetic presence from DJ Tillu into the role, infusing Jack with charm, mischief, and a hint of unpredictability. He’s clearly having fun with the character—but the writing doesn’t always hold up its end of the deal.

Director Bommarillu Bhaskar aims to deliver a slick, stylised spy comedy, but the film’s inconsistent tone and uneven writing end up diluting the impact. The narrative jumps from tense action to broad comedy without much finesse, and the tonal imbalance becomes jarring.

Vaishnavi Chaitanya looks charming and performs her part with sincerity, but her role is limited and lacks emotional depth. The romantic angle, and the chemistry between her and Siddhu, never quite clicks. Prakash Raj brings gravitas to his role as a high-ranking officer, but even his character swings awkwardly between seriousness and silliness, leaving his arc feeling undercooked. Naresh, as Jack’s father, and Subbaraju, as a police officer, shine in their limited roles.

Visually, the film tries to punch above its weight. There are a few well-executed action sequences, but they're also interspersed with some poorly choreographed ones. The film also suffers from continuity issues, with scenes that jump abruptly or feel loosely stitched together. Despite these shortcomings, Jack manages to entertain in parts, largely due to Siddhu’s lively screen presence and a few cleverly written moments.

If you’re a fan of Siddhu Jonnalagadda and enjoyed his antics in DJ Tillu, you might find Jack mildly entertaining. But if you're looking for a well-balanced spy thriller or a tight comedy, temper your expectations.
