’ season 8. The iconic couple who currently is enjoying the 11th year of their beautiful relationship spilled the beans on many topics, including the moment from where it all began.
It is a known fact that their chemistry started making the news when they were prepping and shooting for ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.’ However, when Karan Johar on his famous talk show asked Ranveer Singh if he walked into the film thinking that this was going to be the rest of his life, the actor said, “No, not at all.” Deepika immediately jumped into the conversation and asked Ranveer not to lie.

Thereafter, Ranveer Singh narrated the entire incident when he first felt the tremors of love. He said the movie was initially supposed to be shot with him and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead. However, due to some reasons, a week before the shoot the actress had to leave the project. A lot of discussions were being done on who to cast next.
“I was batting for ‘Team Deepika’, as I had just seen ‘Cocktail,’” said Ranveer Singh. The actor’s efforts worked and Deepika was finalized for the role and a reading was held at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s home in Varsova.

“I was supposed to meet him (Bhansali) before her (Deepika Padukone’s) arrival, so I was sitting at the table. And the door was like there (pointing at a distance), and he has these heavy doors. He lives by the seaside. So these heavy doors open and the gush of the wind comes from the sea, and there she is in a white chickenkari, like this embodiment of simplicity. Her hair was blowing and that is how she entered, and I was like ‘Oh My God,’” added Singh recalling how mesmerized he was on seeing Deepika on the day of the reading.

After the reading, Deepika, Ranveer, the writers, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali took a break for lunch. Bhansali treated them with some of the exotic cuisines and then something unexpected happened at the lunch table.
Ranveer continued, “She was sitting right next to me, and Mr. Bhansali obviously wanted to treat us, make a lunch out of this. So there were all these delicacies, and there was crab as well. So we were all eating crab.” Pointing at Deepika’s million-dollar smile, Singh added, “Like this, she was smiling and I noticed a piece of crab was stuck over here (in the corner of her gum)”

The ‘Rocky Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,’ actor thought he would be able to embarrass Deepika by pointing out that something was stuck in her teeth. The poor fella didn’t know that Deepika would have the most unexpected reaction to the entire situation. “I was like let me catch her, put her on the spot/ She will feel a little embarrassed, vulnerable. I will be like you got something in your teeth, and she will be like ‘Aye haye.’” However, as soon as he pointed at the crab piece, Deepika opened her mouth and said, “Really? Clean it.”
Laughing at the whole scenario, Ranveer told Karan he was stumped and then he took his little pinky finger to clean the stuck piece.
“This to me was like putting my hand in the socket. I felt a 440-volt jolt that day. And I feel the tremors of that jolt till date.”
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone started seeing each other in 2012. Thereafter in 2015, in a very hush-hush affair, Singh proposed to Deepika. After 6 years of seeing each other, they finally tied the knot in 2018 and have been happily married for 5 years.
