Brad Pitt is breaking his silence on his divorce from Angelina Jolie. Months after finalising his divorce following a lengthy court battle, the actor, in his latest interview finally shared his take on the highly publicised matter.
Speaking to GQ, the actor downplayed it, describing it as simply the conclusion of a lengthy legal process. “No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing,” Pitt said when asked if he felt any sense of relief over the divorce being finalised. He went on to add, “Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”The former couple, once dubbed “Brangelina,” officially ended their marriage in December 2024, more than eight years after Jolie first filed for divorce in September 2016.
At the time of their split, the pair had been married for just two years but had been partners for over a decade.Jolie and Pitt share six children together - Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (19), and twins Knox and Vivienne (16). According to reports, the actor’s relationship with his children has remained strained in the years following the separation, with 3 of the 6 reportedly choosing to drop Pitt from their surname.
Following the finalisation of the divorce, Jolie’s legal team released a statement noting the toll the drawn-out process had taken. “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” the statement read. “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
At the time, Pitt’s representatives declined to comment on the settlement.
