Ranveer on Ujjala's reaction to proposal news

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh made their first appearance together on Karan Johar's coffee couch and fans just can't seem to get enough of it.
Koffee With Karan Season 8 debuted its first episode last evening and by the looks of all the social media reactions, there's just no getting over the 'wholesome' episode that shed light on DeepVeer's hush-hush love story.

Besides dropping their epic wedding video, Deepika and Ranveer let fans into their lives, including their early romance, falling for each other on the film sets and even opened up for the first time about their romantic proposal.

Last week, a leaked clip from the show, had Ranveer revealing that he popped the question to DP three years before they could tie the knot. In the first episode of the show, he elaborated on his dreamy proposal in the Maldives. "We were going to take a holiday and I decided that I would propose to her on the holiday. I got the ring and we go to the Maldives and I secretly carry the ring with me and we do the sandbank adventure."
Elaborating further about the proposal, the actor said that a boat took them to the middle of the sea on a sand bank. "So, it was just her and me in the middle of the sea. I was like, ‘This is the perfect scenario'," Singh said and added that he made the proposal so 'picture-perfect' that it would be impossible for Deepika to turn him down.

"They dropped us off and let and now it’s just her and me on the island," Ranveer said and added, "I popped the question, gave her the ring, she did not expect it, and she got emotional. And that was it, she said yes and I felt like the king of the world and then we were engaged."
It was after the proposal that Ranveer said he got the shivers when he had to tell Deepika's parents Prakash and Ujjala. Recalling how they broke the news to the actress' parents, he shared, that Deepika whispered to his ears that she was going to tell them. "And I was like 'don't. Don't even think of it'," He said and added, "Then, suddenly, absolutely out of nowhere, she was like 'you know he proposed marriage to me and I said yes.'"

Recalling the tense moment that followed, including Ujjala's shock, Ranveer said, "I got into their room in their Banglore home and I put my ear to the door and outside Amma and Deepika are having it out. She's saying, 'who is this guy? He proposed marriage and you said yes also?' And I was like 'Please God help me'."
After a lot of effort on his part to convince Deepika's mother that he was the right man for her daughter. Sharing an update on his relationship with his mother-in-law, he said, "It took a lot of work on my part to place for myself in Amma's heart and now I think I'm one of her favourite people in the whole world."
