Sai Pallavi has been quietly shooting for her role as Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of
Ramayan
. The actress is currently filming the emotionally intense Ashok Vatika sequence, where Sita was held captive by Raavan in Lanka. The project, mounted on a massive scale, features an ensemble cast headlined by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Raavan, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.
The film is being planned as a two-part epic, with the first installment slated for a grand Diwali 2026 release, followed by the concluding chapter in Diwali 2027. Backed by a consortium of major production houses, Ramayan is shaping up to be one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious mythological sagas.
While Sai Pallavi has dived into her schedule, Sunny Deol revealed in a recent interview that he is yet to commence shooting for his portions. "Yes, I’m a part of the film. But I haven’t started filming yet," he said "I am very excited about Ramayana, because Namit (Malhotra) is doing it, and he is currently heading special effects companies all over the world. He is doing a great job and is the right person to make Ramayana. He wants to make it believable because he believes in the story. I've known him for years, and I think he has got the right film to do so."
Meanwhile, Yash, who plays the menacing Raavan, was recently in Mumbai for a brief schedule of Ramayan, following which he also shot for his immediate next project, Toxic. The actor, best known for his iconic role in the KGF series, is balancing both high-profile projects simultaneously, signaling a powerful comeback post-KGF: Chapter 2.
Director Nitesh Tiwari, known for Dangal and Chhichhore, is reportedly leaving no stone unturned in bringing the age-old epic to life with a fresh cinematic approach while staying rooted in authenticity. With VFX-heavy sequences, elaborate set pieces, and intense performances expected across the board, Ramayan is poised to be a landmark in Indian storytelling.
As more stars join the shoot in the coming months, the anticipation for this magnum opus continues to build—promising a mythological spectacle like never before.
