Tom Cruise starrer crosses Rs 50 crore mark in India; eyes $200 Million global weekend

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the latest and reportedly final instalment in the iconic action franchise led by Tom Cruise, has crossed the Rs 50 crore milestone at the Indian box office within just six days of release.

The film, which premiered in India nearly a week ahead of its US release, continues to enjoy a solid theatrical run.According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film added an estimated Rs 4.50 crore nett on Thursday, taking its total domestic earnings to approximately Rs 54.25 crore nett. The action-packed thriller opened to a strong Rs 16.5 crore, peaking at Rs 17 crore on Sunday. Collections dipped slightly mid-week, with earnings estimated at Rs 5.75 crore on Monday and Tuesday, and Rs 4.75 crore on Wednesday.Despite the mid-week slowdown, the film is poised for another robust weekend in India, thanks to a lack of major competing releases. The only significant new entrant at the box office is the live-action family film Lilo & Stitch, which is not expected to pose serious competition.Globally, The Final Reckoning is on track to set a new benchmark for the franchise. As per Deadline, the film is projected to rake in between $200 million and $220 million worldwide during its opening weekend—a franchise record.

The North American debut alone is forecast to bring in $75 million to $85 million, well ahead of 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which earned $61 million in its domestic opening.Internationally, the film is expected to generate $125 million to $135 million, further bolstering its early global momentum.

With an eye-watering production budget reportedly in the range of $300 million to $400 million, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will need to gross at least $1 billion globally to break even. However, early indicators suggest that the film is well on its way to meeting that mark, driven by Cruise’s enduring star power and the franchise’s global appeal.
