As Kangana Ranaut's latest film, 'Tejas', prepares to take off, ETimes sat down with film trade analyst Girish Wankhade to gain his perspective on the movie's outlook and box office performance.
While 'Tejas'promises a unique storyline centred around an
Indian Air Force
pilot, Wankhade points out that the film has not yet generated the kind of buzz typically expected for a major release.
He attributes this, in part, to the film's promotional strategies. "Tejas is looking dull and typed," Wankhade remarks, adding, "It doesn't hold the excitement for any potential blockbuster."
The film trade analyst acknowledges Ranaut's undeniable box office appeal but suggests that the film might not be the platform for her to showcase it. "Kangana Ranaut's box office magic will definitely precede 'Dhaakad,' and it can be another extension of the same as it lacks the popularity quotient," Wankhade explains.
He also critiques the promotional efforts, noting, "She had promoted it with politicians and niche segments but has failed to create euphoria around it." The film's message, a blend of patriotism and entertainment, appears to be unbalanced, making it seem 'too dramatic and jaded'.
In addition to the promotional challenges, Wankhade suggests that the release of Vijay's 'Leo' could have diverted the spotlight from 'Tejas'. He said, "Tejas is not engaging and has not found any limelight owing to the mass movement of Leo and it’s sky rocking figures. It’s a sorry state for the film. It’s unable to connect to masses with its message and visibility."
As 'Tejas' faces its cinematic journey, all eyes will be on whether Kangana Ranaut's performance and the film's message can connect with a broader audience. Wankhade's insights remind us that, in the world of cinema, a well-rounded promotional strategy plays a pivotal role in a film's success.
