As they raise their three children, Violet (19), Seraphina (16), and Samuel (13), Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner maintain their close co-parenting relationship. In a recent interview, Ben, 52, discussed how they are teaching their kids responsibility and the value of setting boundaries.
Teaching responsibility
During his appearance on 'Today with Jenna and Friends', he spoke about his two older children having jobs. “One just got a job, the kind of classic teenager working a shop job—I won’t say what it is. My older one in college is working and trying to get an internship for the summer,” he proudly shared.
He also mentioned a situation with his youngest son, Samuel, which taught an important lesson about earning what you want. “He wanted these sneakers, and I was like, ‘These sneakers are $6,000, what are you talking about? What are you gonna do, mow lawns? You got $6,000? I have the money! You’re broke,’” Affleck explained.
Setting boundaries
Although Ben admitted he could easily buy things for his children, the 'Gone Girl' actor said it is important to set boundaries and teach them to work for their goals. “My son, who’s 13, he’s reckoning with that reality right now. He’s looking at no shoes in his closet—well, he’s got shoes, just no crazy expensive fancy shoes—and I’m like, ‘Well, if you want that, you can work 1,000 hours.’ You know what I mean? Minimum wage. And once you work 1,000 hours, you may not want to spend that on a pair of sneakers,” he said, explaining how he teaches financial responsibility.
Celebrating Easter Together
Affleck and Garner stayed dedicated to working together for their kids even after their 2018 divorce. They recently gathered at Ben's house in Brentwood, California, for Easter Sunday. Earlier, Jennifer Garner and Samuel were spotted doing chores together before they were spotted leaving the house together.
He has spoken before about their strong co-parenting relationship. In an interview with British GQ last month, he said, “I’m really lucky that I have a really good co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids’ mom, who’s wonderful and great and we work together well.”
No romantic reunion
However, while they remain friendly, sources say a romantic reunion is unlikely. According to Us Weekly, a source said he “would definitely be open to giving things another shot with Jennifer if the timing is ever right.” But the source added, “At the same time, Ben knows it’s just not realistic at this time in their lives.”
A separate insider told Page Six that Garner feels differently. “The feeling is not mutual. She’s happy with John [Miller], and that’s just not where her head is at. She has a great co-parenting relationship with Ben, and that’s where things stand on her end at the moment.”
